Improv for Real Life

  • The Auditorium at UHeights 5031 University Way Northeast Seattle, WA, 98105 United States (map)

Improv for Real Life (IRL) is a joyful experience full of laughter and community, rooted in improv and personal storytelling, that's designed to help you turn neighbors into friends.

Have you been to awkward networking events or happy hours where you've had the same surface-level conversation over and over? Improv for Real Life is not that.

At IRL, you'll play games that will have you laughing and having meaningful conversations that will lay the groundwork for new friendships.

This experience is introvert-friendly, and there's zero pressure to be funny :)

Zero experience necessary! Beginners are enthusiastically encouraged to attend! Being "good at improv" is not the point of this; think of improv as being a means to an end, where friendship is the end goal. While I firmly believe that everyone is inherently creative, you don’t need to identify as a “creative type” to get a lot out of this workshop.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Saya Jenks (she/her) is a community-rooted theatre educator who has told stories live onstage at The Moth, led highschoolers in devising their own original plays, taught theatre at New York University, and leads workshops in creativity and social connections at organizations ranging from The Public Theatre to Google to Bloomberg. She is a board member of the American Alliance for Theatre & Education, a nonprofit that provides professional development for drama teachers across the country.
