This class, hosted by Improv for Real Life, is for anyone curious about acting, whether you're a total beginner, a lapsed theater kid, or an improviser looking to strengthen your acting technique. You’ll learn how to apply the improv mindset to acting: acting can often feel so high-stakes and serious, but we’ll take a playful, exploratory approach to playing make-believe with emotional honesty.
We’ll cover craft topics including vocal technique, script analysis, physical theatre/how to embody a character, and resilience in the creative process.
The class will culminate with a performance: if you want to, you'll have an opportunity to perform a scene or monologue you’ve been working on in front of an audience! There will also be an optional dress rehearsal on Saturday, November 14 from noon-3 pm.
9 weeks on Friday evenings from September 18-November 20, 2026 (No class on October 30). Classes meet from 7 pm-9:30 pm at University Heights Center.
