About the Event
Please RSVP to get the Zoom meeting link emailed to you.
UHeights is excited to bring you a wonderful new program for teens, with which we hope to create a space for them to connect with themselves as well as each other.
Our facilitator for this program, TIPS for Teens is Anika Tara Rao. Anika will be starting 10th grade this Fall. She enjoys singing, dancing, cooking and hanging out with friends. Anika was inspired by her mom Dr. Anu Taranath to create safe spaces for talking about sometimes uncomfortable topics. She loves leadership and is very excited and thankful to be able to connect with you all!
TIPS is a book written by Dr. Anu's UW students during their study abroad program in India, encouraging us to see ourselves and our surroundings anew via thought-provoking letters to Things, Ideas, People and Self (TIPS).
Each week, Anika will introduce you to new guest speakers, who will share their insights with you and answer any questions you might have. You will spend some time writing letters using the TIPS model, and then share what you've written with the group.
For our meeting on October 13th, we welcome guest speaker Maurianna Zingarelli. Maurianna has 12 years of teaching and facilitation experience and is deeply committed to equity in the education sector. With the mission to create inclusive environments and brave spaces, she has worked with over 15,000 students in the creative arts. Currently, Maurianna is the Education Program Manager for Village Theatre and a volunteer mentor for Young Women Empowered.
Maurianna will be discussing the topic of "Belonging" with the group, and doing interactive activities with them to explore the question "What does Belonging mean to you?"
