About the Event
Please RSVP to get the Zoom meeting link emailed to you.
UHeights is excited to bring you a wonderful new program for teens, with which we hope to create a space for them to connect with themselves as well as each other.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Our facilitator for this program, TIPS for Teens is Anika Tara Rao. Anika will be starting 10th grade this Fall. She enjoys singing, dancing, cooking and hanging out with friends. Anika was inspired by her mom Dr. Anu Taranath to create safe spaces for talking about sometimes uncomfortable topics. She loves leadership and is very excited and thankful to be able to connect with you all!
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
TIPS is a book written by Dr. Anu's UW students during their study abroad program in India, encouraging us to see ourselves and our surroundings anew via thought-provoking letters to Things, Ideas, People and Self (TIPS).
Each week, Anika will introduce you to new guest speakers, who will share their insights with you and answer any questions you might have. You will spend some time writing letters using the TIPS model, and then share what you've written with the group.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Our guest speaker for this session is Vega Subramaniam. Vega is on a lifelong journey to find her voice and learn how to use it to make a difference. She believes that telling our own life stories, in our own words, empowers us to change the world. Professionally, she is a leadership and career coach who loves supporting others in understanding their life purpose and leadership styles. She lives and works with her wife, Mala Nagarajan, in Laurel, MD. In her spare time, Vega can usually be found solving crossword puzzles, listening to political podcasts, or taking long walks with her family.
ABOUT THE TOPIC:
The conversation with Vega will centered around justice and leadership, about finding your voice and making a difference.
