About the Event

Please RSVP to get the Zoom meeting link emailed to you.

TIPS for Teen is BACK in 2021 with a new format which will allow teens to learn, grow and connect even more than previously! The TIPS session will now be spread out over two weeks, where the first week will entail an interesting conversation with a guest speaker. Then, the following week, participants will continue the discussion among themselves (without a speaker), writing and sharing their TIPS letters as a tool to explore the topic more.

For the session on May 18th, 2021, we will be having a conversation with guest speaker, Courtney Jackson on "Forgiveness and Accountabilty".

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Courtney (she/her) is a living, breathing, human being, aspiring musician, avid reader, and hopeful artist among other things that contribute to her identity. Her personal mission is to build permanently organized communities and work within them towards collective healing, a passion she has found joy pursuing as the Program Manager of The Doorway Project.

ABOUT THE TOPIC:  Forgiveness and Accountability

In this TIPS for Teens, Courtney will facilitate dialogue about healing through the lens of anger, forgiveness, and accountability.  Participants will share their own experiences and insights on these topics, using TIPS as a tool of exploration.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Our facilitator for TIPS for Teens is Anika Tara Rao. Anika is currently in 10th grade. She enjoys singing, cooking, travelling and laughing with friends and family. Anika was inspired by her mom Dr. Anu Taranath to create safe spaces for talking about sometimes uncomfortable topics. She loves leadership and is very excited and thankful to be able to connect with you all!

ABOUT TIPS:

TIPS is a book written by Dr. Anu's UW students during their study abroad program in India, encouraging us to see ourselves and our surroundings anew via thought-provoking letters to Things, Ideas, People and Self (TIPS).
