About the Event
Please RSVP to get the Zoom meeting link emailed to you.
UHeights is excited to bring you a wonderful new program for teens, with which we hope to create a space for them to connect with themselves as well as each other.
Our facilitator for this program, TIPS for Teens is Anika Tara Rao. Anika will be starting 10th grade this Fall. She enjoys singing, dancing, cooking and hanging out with friends. Anika was inspired by her mom Dr. Anu Taranath to create safe spaces for talking about sometimes uncomfortable topics. She loves leadership and is very excited and thankful to be able to connect with you all!
TIPS is a book written by Dr. Anu's UW students during their study abroad program in India, encouraging us to see ourselves and our surroundings anew via thought-provoking letters to Things, Ideas, People and Self (TIPS).
Each week, Anika will introduce you to new guest speakers, who will share their insights with you and answer any questions you might have. You will spend some time writing letters using the TIPS model, and then share what you've written with the group.
For our meeting on October 20th, we welcome guest speaker Kendra Azari. Kendra is a Seattle born mother, artist, art educator, activist, and student of life. Her love of art began at a very young age and she now dedicates her life to bringing beauty to her community. Drawing inspiration from her Persian heritage, the power of women, spirituality, a quest for inner peace and a reverence for Mother Nature, Kendra is passionate about creating public art and fostering community connection.
Kendra will be discussing the topic of "Success versus Failure" with the group, and exploring with them, questions like - What does it mean to win or succeed? What does it mean to lose or fail? What do you learn from winning or losing?
