About the Event
Seattle Modern Opera Company and OperaMuse present: The Real Housewives of Sparta.
Originally composed by Jacques Offenbach in 1864, La Belle Helene was a farce on the story of Helen of Troy. The Real Housewives of Sparta, adapted by Mike Heitmann, is an opera about Helen, a Real Housewife of Sparta, finding happiness outside of her marriage to Menelaus, a celebrated war hero who also happens to be king. Andy Calchas hosts this special recap episode where Paris, on the search for the most beautiful woman in the world, has come looking for Helen. With Andy Calchas help, he is able to persuade Menelaus to a contest, where Paris can win a night with Helen. Drama and hilarity ensues when they all discover Paris' intentions!
As with all SMOC and OperaMuse productions, The Real Housewives of Sparta is in English.
Wine and beer will be sold before the show, and during intermission.
There will be two performances - October 26th and 27th
