About the Event

Please RSVP to get the Zoom meeting link emailed to you.

February is Black History Month, and here at UHeights we want to recognize the history, impact, and achievements of the Black community. As a part of our BHM celebrations, we are excited to welcome locally renowned storyteller, Kibibi Monie!

Join us with your kiddos on Sat, Feb 13th at 4 pm. All ages are welcome.

Kibibi is known as one of the most exciting storytellers and performers in the Pacific Northwest. Her combination of music and drama coupled with dance and African folktales create a unique storytelling performance. Her stories of the strength and bravery of the animals of the African Savanna reverberate through her audience, as she races around strutting gracefully and illustrating through words and movement, the story of a leopard or the slow, ponderous movements of an elephant.

"Humans must remember that they are animals too, not separate from nature, but part of its vibrancy," says Kibibi. She was the resident storyteller for the Woodland Park Zoo’s African Village, is the director of the Nu Black Arts Theater, and has a long history of directing and performing in Seattle.
