About the Event

Queer Swing Seattle's mission is to get folx excited about swing dancing. A lot of times partner dance classes feel really heteronormative. Queer Swing Seattle aims to create space for everyone but especially LGBTQAI+ people to learn about Lindy Hop, Jazz and Swing dancing in a space that is specifically queer positive. The goal is to help foster a strong LGBTQAI+ community in swing dance here in Seattle.

Join Queer Swing Seattle for a 5 week course ( Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 on 3/16, 3/23, 3/30. 4/6. and 4/13 ) learning the basics of the original swing dance Lindy Hop!

This class is a super fun intro to swing dance and can be taken without a partner or any previous experience.  You will start from the beginning to cover basic steps, patterns and movements.

This is an ELEF style class. "Everyone leads, Everyone follows" means you will be able to learn the skill of leading and following in the same class. You will rotate partners and try the movements from different positions.  Learning to dance both roles at the beginning will give you social dance super powers and is in line with Queer Swing Seattle's mission to break down gender norms associated with partner dance.

Each week you will be offered the option to record at the end of class to help you practice at home to grow even faster. Classes are taught without gendered language, by predominantly LGBTQAI+ instructors with you in mind. Name tags for pronouns will be provided and our facility has gender neutral bathrooms. All are welcome!

If cost is a barrier, please let us know.
