If you've ever wanted to be a part of creating 1,000 origami cranes, join this workshop in an experimental community building project. You'll be a vital part of creating a display installation with over 1,000 peace cranes. The piece goes on display for Seattle's Summer Solstice Parade at Gas Works Park in Fremont June 22nd 2019 then will be hung up at University Heights Center.

Artist Brittani Anglin will be facilitating the workshops. Brittani is a student Filmmaker & Artist taking her art project to the next level. 3 years ago she had a vision of a large origami crane installation. The cranes were shared with friends, family and strangers as a way to say "Thank You" when she struggled to find a home. Art is a way of being mindful to where we are in our lives. All of our experiences (good or bad) are valid. Hopefully we can construct peace within ourselves as we move about in our lives. This is the one project that represents peace for the individuals and community as a whole.

Instead of creating an art piece solo, she is including the local community to contribute to the process for structuring a large art installation that everyone can enjoy & be apart of! During the workshops each person will have an opportunity to write a thoughtful reflection/message about what they wish for the planet or for their lives. They will have the opportunity to share it in the group during the workshop or for the film in its very first development stages.

*Cinematic moments collected from the workshop will be entered into the film. Only those who have signed a waiver will get the opportunity to be in the film.

All Ages Welcome!

Music, food+drinks, warm up activities games are built into the workshops along with instructions for folding cranes.

Sliding scale fee $5-$15 per person.

Funding goes to supporting the artist and covering costs for the final structure, room rental, rental equipment snacks and beverages for each session.

Prizes are given to the persons with the most birds at the end of each workshop!

Bring Materials from your Home!

Materials are provided, however it's encouraged to bring items lying around your home such as:

Recyclable/compostable materials;
