About the Event
Representing yourself in court is a complicated process and can be overwhelming. In this free, walk-in workshop you will learn the basics of the civil lawsuit process with a focus on court rules, court procedures, forms, scheduling, and deadlines.
Attendees will be granted access to a password protected website with additional information and resources including the most commonly used civil forms. This class does not cover immigration proceedings or criminal proceedings such as DUI or felony & misdemeanor offenses.
Participants will be asked for their feedback after the event on what legal topics interest them so that we can tailor future workshops to the community’s needs. If we have good turnout and feedback for this event, there is potential for King County Bar Association to offer a semi-regular legal clinic at UHeights that would include pro bono or low bono legal representation to those who need it.
