About the Event

Please RSVP to get meeting link emailed to you.

Join poet Ananya Garg for an online Poetry class on Mondays at 5:30 pm PST. Ananya believes that anyone can be a poet, she hopes that this class allows you space to find your own poetic voice. In this poetry class, participants will have the chance to read, discuss, and even write and share poems in a safe and welcoming space. We will read and discuss contemporary poets of color who write about issues affecting our communities today. Ananya will also share opportunities to get involved in the local poetry community.

To celebrate Black History Month, we will be featuring works of different Black poets! In this week's session, we'll be looking at work from Hanif Abdurraqib, a poet, essayist and cultural critic from Ohio. His first collection of poems, The Crown Ain’t Worth Much, was released by Button Poetry in 2016. His first collection of essays, They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us, is forthcoming from Two Dollar Radio in winter 2017.

Estelita's Library is a local Black owned bookstore that you could buy the books from if you are interested.
