WRKSHP No. 1: THE PHYSICAL WARM-UP
Whether you are preparing for an audition, a performance, a job interview or to simply release, connecting with your body is the first step. This workshop is geared to assist you in physically grounding yourself and becoming more present--necessary steps before launching into performance or creation. With a combination of pre-existing and new methods, this first workshop will be led by filament company member, Sophia Franzella.
Dress in clothes that are easy to ~move~ in.
Class begins at 7:30pm. Please arrive by 7:15, so that we may begin on time. There is a parking lot behind UHeights and various bus stops nearby.
After class, all attendees (21+) are welcome to join us across the street at A Pizza Mart for drinks and merriment!
WORKSHOP LEADER/ ARTIST BIO:
Sophia Franzella is a multi-disciplinary artist in Seattle, and a co-founder and company member of filament: a collab lab. Sophia is a freelance movement choreographer and actress. She trained as a classical dancer from ages 3-15, until she fell in love with theatre and began to purse acting voraciously. Sophia holds a degree in Theatre Performance from St. Edward's University.
When she isn't performing, Sophia enjoys creating dances for film and theatre, including her 12-month choreographic project (The Wild Once Project), Vashon TV pilot, and The Dark Set Project. She choreographed Filament’s show HERe*: Hidden in the Mask (created and directed by Britt Allyson). Most recently, Sophia directed and choreographed Settle Down, Ladies, presented by Filament and Annex Theatre.
ABOUT DARK (ON MONDAYS):
DARK (on mondays) is a monthly, drop-in, PWYC workshop for those who are looking to gain community and explore their creativity--without having to break the bank. Come one time, come a few times, come each time! We want to find our light with you!
