ABOUT THE CLASS: Instructor Thomas Phelan (he/him they/them) will lead this movement workshop in January. With a few building blocks and a few tools, dancers will work on creating phrase work and discuss how to transform a few movements into a solo or group work. Work will involve a bit of traditional academic dance forms as well as deconstruction of those forms and exploration of more creative and “organic” movement.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Thomas Phelan is originally from Fort Collins, CO. It was there at CSU where he earned his BFA in Performing Arts with a concentration in dance. Artistic disciplines include modern, classical, and contemporary dance forms. Currently living and working from Seattle, performance credits include Alaska Dance Theatre, Whim W’Him, Coriolis Dance, Alana O Rogers Dance Company, the Cabiri and Khambatta Dance Company among others.
ABOUT FILAMENT Filament: A Collab Lab is an experimental theatre company co-founded by multidisciplinary artists: Brittany Allyson, Nathan Brockett, and Sophia Franzella. Their productions seek to engage all five senses and take advantage of the inherit theatricality of Seattle's terrain. "We break theatrical conventions to engage the senses {and} get minds out of asses {and} asses out of seats {and} onto their feets!"
Currently hosting DARK (on mondays), a PWYC drop-in workshop series occurring on the 1st Monday of the month, as members of the 2019 & 2020 UHeights Theatre Alliance.
